Care Instructions

1. Washing Guidelines (By Garment Type)

Tops (Chef Coats & Shirts)

    • Spot-treat deep stains with a Tide pen or gentle stain remover before washing.
Wash in cold water to minimize shrinkage and color fading.
    • Use a mild, enzyme-based detergent to break down food oils without damaging the fabric.
    • Turn garments inside out before washing to protect logos, buttons, and surface details.
    • Tumble dry on low heat, or shake out after washing and hang dry to help minimize wrinkles.

Bottoms (Pants, Jumpsuits, Overalls)

    • Machine wash on cold with similar colors; separate darks and lights.
    • Tumble dry on low heat, or shake out after washing and hang dry to help minimize wrinkles.
    • Fasten zippers and buttons to prevent snags or abrasion.
    • Avoid overloading the washer to reduce friction and preserve fabric quality.

Aprons

    • Remove any leather components before machine washing.
    • Shake off debris and pre-treat stains with a spot treater.
    • For waxed aprons, wipe clean with mild soap and a soft sponge. Machine wash to remove odor.
    • Tie or secure apron straps (or place in a laundry bag) to prevent tangling.
    • Use a gentle cycle for the first wash to help preserve color.
    • Hang dry or tumble dry on low/cool air.

2. Temperature & Cycle Recommendations

  • Cold is preferred; hot water may cause shrinkage or set stains.
  • Use gentle/delicate cycles, especially for printed or embroidered garments.
  • Always follow the specific instructions on each garment’s care label.

3. Drying Instructions

  • Air dry or line dry when possible to maintain fit and reduce wear.
  • If using a dryer, select low heat only.
  • Remove items promptly to prevent wrinkles.

4. Stain Treatment Tips

  • Pre-treat stains (oil, tomato, coffee, etc.) as soon as possible with mild stain remover or gentle dish soap.
  • For tougher stains, allow garments to soak briefly before washing.
  • Avoid chlorine bleach on colored fabrics to prevent fading or fiber damage.

5. Fabric Protection & Handling

  • Turn garments inside out to protect prints, embroidery, and color depth.
  • Avoid harsh detergents or bleach, which can weaken fibers and fade fabrics.
  • Skip fabric softeners on workwear, they can leave residue and reduce breathability.

6. Ironing & Finishing

  • Use medium heat when ironing.
  • Do not iron directly over logos or embroidery, turn garments inside out or use a pressing cloth.
  • For heavier fabrics (like denim aprons or pants), use a steam setting for best results.

7. Storage & Longevity Tips

  • Store garments completely dry to prevent mildew or odors.
  • Hang tops and aprons to maintain shape; fold bottoms as needed.
  • Repair loose threads or stitching early to extend the garment’s lifespan.

8. Safety & Sanitation Notes

  • For garments exposed to heavy food residue, wash soon after use to prevent bacteria buildup.
  • Certain fabrics may allow sanitize-cycle settings; always check the care label first.

Love how it fits

I am a catering chef so I am always on the move loading and unloading vans setting up buffet's. So I love the mobility and comfort of this jacket not stiff at all. I also like the modern classic look of the double breasted jacket with buttons on both sides. I do wish it came in black though for those wedding receptions that the bride puts me out in field.

Great jacket.

Love the coat. I ordered a hat and only wore it a few times and the back strap has fallen apart.

Buy a size up. Looked great, but didn’t fit. I have always worn the same size coat and never had one so tight.

The Long Sleeve Chef Coat: Pockets, Stretch, And Fit

The Long Sleeved Men’s Chef Coat is a classic, long-sleeve chef jacket built around movement and on-the-line utility: stretch in the body, airflow through the side panels, and the small details you actually reach for during service.

This coat uses Self (main body) - Stretch Twill with Combo A panel - Stretch Mesh for stretch and airflow, plus a Combo B panel - Chambray at the inner collar for a softer feel at the neck. You get a front pocket at the hip, an arm pocket sized for a sharpie and or tweezers, a rear neck apron tab, and side tabs so you can dial in fit without overthinking it. The front is a snap-front closure with hollow snaps, with a rounded front placket to reduce flap. If you are building a consistent program, it sits in Supply Chef Coats and pairs cleanly with the rest of the chef coats lineup, including the wider men’s chef coats assortment.

Frequently Asked Questions About chef coats

What pockets does this long-sleeve chef coat have?

It has a front pocket at the hip plus an arm pocket intended for a sharpie and or tweezers, so the tools you grab mid-shift stay on-body instead of on the station.

How does the fabric help with movement and heat?

The main body is Stretch Twill, and the side panels are Stretch Mesh. That combo is designed to give you stretch where you need it and airflow through the panels during a busy service.

What should I know about embroidery on this chef jacket?

Embroidered chef coats are final sale. If you are unsure about sizing, TILIT can send the chef jacket with prepaid return shipping to try on before embroidery. Embroidery processing is listed as 7-10 business days.
